RV and Boat Storage
If you have limited space in your driveway or garage, you’ve likely struggled to find room to park your boat/RV, or have worried about parking it on the street. You might’ve even held off on getting a boat or RV you want simply because you don’t have a good parking space at home.
If this sounds familiar, don’t worry! There are plenty of places to keep your RV, Boat, or other vehicles with us! Five Store Storage offers parking solutions in various locations in Minnesota, North Dakota, and South Dakota. Some locations even offer indoor parking spaces. Visit our locations page to find the nearest storage facility for you and rent or reserve a spot.
Types of Vehicle Storage
Depending on your location, many storage facilities offer covered and/or outdoor vehicle storage. Covered vehicle storage offers additional protection against the elements, while outdoor storage is generally lower-cost.
Outdoor Vehicle Storage
Outdoor storage is simple and affordable and is a great alternative to less secure street or driveway parking. Note, however, that this type of storage does not provide extra protection against the elements – be sure to only place vehicles that are fully and securely covered in uncovered parking spaces. Outdoor storage is a particularly good option for short-term parking and storage during mild weather seasons.
Covered Vehicle Storage
When it comes to vehicle storage, covered parking is generally the best way to protect a vehicle from damage from the elements. Covered storage will shield your vehicle from rain, hail, wind, snow, and freezing rain/ice. Due to the extra protection this type of storage offers, it is a particularly valuable option for protecting your vehicle during long-term or off-season storage.
Most of Five Star Storage’s indoor RV and boat storage options are large drive-up storage units. However, before renting a drive-up storage unit indoors, you’ll need to consider a few things.
- Full length of your vehicle—while your boat might be 20 feet long, you’ll also need to consider the full length from the front of the hitch to the back of the motor.
- Door widths—units that are 10 feet wide do not always have doors 10 feet wide. Door length differs based on facility and even within said facility’s buildings. Check the door width before assuming it will fit your vehicle.
- Unit location—even if a unit is technically large enough to store your vehicle, it might be in a location where it is difficult or impossible to maneuver your vehicle into your unit.
As a general rule, we recommend speaking with a manager prior to renting a drive-up storage unit for indoor vehicle storage purposes.
Secure Parking for Campers, Boats, and Vehicles
One of the great benefits of renting a parking spot at our storage locations is the added security features of our facilities. We take your trust in our facilities very seriously and incorporate security features in our various locations to help protect your items.
Because our storage facilities are designed to incorporate security features, they are a great alternative to street parking or parking on unattended property. Additionally, our storage units are designed to make hitching/unhitching and towing to your destination simple, so you don’t have to fight tight driveway spaces (or worry about backing into your neighbor’s yard) before you hit the road.
Seasonal Vehicle Storage and Parking
During the colder months, the offseason, or just while you’re too busy to be hitting the road or the lake, our lots are available for short-term rentals. We won’t lock you into long-term contracts, so you can stay flexible and find the parking that works for you.
How to Get Started with Renting a Parking Spot for your RV or Boat
To get started, locate a facility near you by searching your location and selecting filters for either indoor or outdoor Boat/RV parking. From there, you can contact your local office, or rent or reserve online.
Once you’ve set up your rental, feel free to hit the road or open water with the knowledge that your vehicle has a place to go when you’re all done! If you decide you’d like a place to keep your extra gear or other belongings, check into our regular and climate-controlled storage options in the same locations!
